One moment of which I am very proud

We had been getting calls from a 1-800 number that listed the caller as "Ontario." We'd answer, say "hello" and no one was there. This had been going on for some time, much to our frustration. On day I picked up and yelled "hello, hello, hello..." I actually triggered the computer to answer. It was a recorded message telling me to call about a Collingwood vacation weekend. So I did. I told "Brian" to take me off the list and never call me again. He tried to say it would take a couple of weeks, I told him if it happened again I was calling the CRTC and Bell. Brian got a tad snippy with me and I was less than impressed. so............

Then I had a great idea. I called their 800 number (their dime,) and when they answered, I was silent. It gave me perverse pleasure! Usually they hung up, one girl was very determined and so I decided to actually speak: I asked her "so, how do you like it?" She asked me what I was talking about. I told her that we had been plagued by their misfunctioning computer dial program for weeks and I wondered how she liked answering the phone and getting silence. She sighed and asked for my number so she could take me off the list. I told her I had already done that. So, of course, she asked me why then was I calling... I told her, "just for fun." She hung up, so rude!

I did this for a while, just hitting redial as I played on the computer until... suddenly... My calls were refused! Yes folks, I was blocked by a telemarketing firm!

Score: Pat 1/ Telemarketers 0 !
