Time to wake up!

Well, we have a new Pope. An ultra conservative, former Nazi Youth, German soldier during WWII, leading the Catholic Church... sigh... Staunch conservative, no hope of reform... might as well be President of the USA for pete's sake! I suppose that for a few brief days we had hope, hope that maybe someone would be chosen who could make a difference, take the patriarchal church and make it truly open, welcoming and viable for women, gays, people who've made tough choices. The reality is that change comes slowly to those with their opinions formed in cement and the saddest part is that we all sink with them!

Blog lost and found!

Well, I tried some program for posting pics and lost my blog. All I had was a giant face shot of my 30 pound cat. Cute as he is, I hadn't planned on him being the only thing on the blog! Damn, had to delete the post, then had no posts, somehow found the original posts and re-posted them, twice! So now my archive is what's on the main page?

I'm thinking maybe I'm not a blogger? I'm thinking maybe I should have read the instructions? I, who once put a bbq together, that came without the instuctions should be able to figure this out. I see other people's blogs and wow, fancy schmancy... I have pretty green dots on mine! Used to have a giant cat head... sigh

I'm going to figure this out if it kills me! Course, if it kills me then this won't be much of a blog will it?

I'm going to sign off now and go read the instruction book, if I can find it? hehe

Looooooooong day!

It was a long day today at work. It's coming to our busy time. Being in the fireworks business in Canada, Victoria Day is the biggest day for fireworks sales. There's tons of staff working, (and fighting! sigh...) the phone's ringing off the hook and the day's are flying by.

Spent 2 1/2 hours trying to fix boss' computer! I hate XP! It sucks. My new computer at home is XP too and it too sucks. I resent any machine that fights me trying to re-set something I want to re-set! Dammit, if I want to fool around in the advanced settings, I think the machine should just shut up and do as it's told! The "paper clip guy" though with XP it's a pathetic looking puppy that should have been drowned at birth, isn't long for this world! I'm thinking that a small torch at a pin point setting should take care of him. I finally fixed the lap top and was then able to carry on with my work.

I'm kind of tired today and don't feel much like chatting. It was a rather mundane day, other than the 2 1/2 hour fight with XP and there's not much to tell.

I think I'll wait until I'm in a better mood before I post anything of importance.

me... signing out!

The Name

So, I have actually got 41 pounds of cat. One's 30, the other 11. Being Canadian, I should likely refer to them in kilos but all that dividing by 2.2 is just too messy. Huh, now that I think about it, just being Canadian is a bit messy right now.

Being Canadian, where I live, is really messy. I can see our American cousins from my front porch. I'm in Windsor, Ontario. I live near the Detroit River which is the divider between our countries, only about a mile wide. (Not sure on the kilometer reading either!) I'm a terrible Canuck.

We zipped across the border for dinner, shopping, concerts, sporting events, beer, cheap cigarettes, gas (not so much anymore) just about anything. Our cousins zipped this way for bingo, casinos without IRS staff on premises and those 19 & 20 years old for legal, (and copious) drinking. It's a symbiotic relationship we had, we traded dollars. We gave them ours for tangible items like clothes they gave us theirs for entertainment. It worked, it's worked for years but it's getting tougher all the time.

The border here was treated like a stop sign. We flashed our driver's license and on we went. We had a harder time getting back into Canada than we had entering a foreign country. Our government wanted to make sure they got every tax dollar they deserved. (Now that I know what they did with them I'm even more pissed than I was handing it over! but that's another entry all on it's own.) Now, Americans could come in almost no questions asked. Convicted felon?, wanted for numerous crimes?, coming over to enjoy the view and carjack a native or two?, as long as you told them you were stopping at the Casino... Welcome to Canada!

So, welcome to my blog. My first attempt. I'm new at this so hopefully I improve with practice. I'm going to go try to find the place where you put pics up and stuff. If I get lost, I hope I find my way back. I still have to tell you about the 30 pounds of cat!
