The Name
So, I have actually got 41 pounds of cat. One's 30, the other 11. Being Canadian, I should likely refer to them in kilos but all that dividing by 2.2 is just too messy. Huh, now that I think about it, just being Canadian is a bit messy right now.
Being Canadian, where I live, is really messy. I can see our American cousins from my front porch. I'm in Windsor, Ontario. I live near the Detroit River which is the divider between our countries, only about a mile wide. (Not sure on the kilometer reading either!) I'm a terrible Canuck.
We zipped across the border for dinner, shopping, concerts, sporting events, beer, cheap cigarettes, gas (not so much anymore) just about anything. Our cousins zipped this way for bingo, casinos without IRS staff on premises and those 19 & 20 years old for legal, (and copious) drinking. It's a symbiotic relationship we had, we traded dollars. We gave them ours for tangible items like clothes they gave us theirs for entertainment. It worked, it's worked for years but it's getting tougher all the time.
The border here was treated like a stop sign. We flashed our driver's license and on we went. We had a harder time getting back into Canada than we had entering a foreign country. Our government wanted to make sure they got every tax dollar they deserved. (Now that I know what they did with them I'm even more pissed than I was handing it over! but that's another entry all on it's own.) Now, Americans could come in almost no questions asked. Convicted felon?, wanted for numerous crimes?, coming over to enjoy the view and carjack a native or two?, as long as you told them you were stopping at the Casino... Welcome to Canada!
So, welcome to my blog. My first attempt. I'm new at this so hopefully I improve with practice. I'm going to go try to find the place where you put pics up and stuff. If I get lost, I hope I find my way back. I still have to tell you about the 30 pounds of cat!
